Meetings
The club meets on a weekly basis at 7pm on Thursday evenings in the Abbey Row Centre. Our aim is to keep meetings as informal and enjoyable as possible.
Meetings take a variety of forms but will always include the opportunity for discussion about club business and activities.
Meetings are often practical sessions where members will be able to try out different techniques. For example, our first practical session focussed(!)
on macro photography and everyone got stuck in photographing all sorts of small stuff. (See some of our members' work in the
Macro gallery.)
We also invite guest presenters on a regular basis. Subjects will depend on the particular presenter but will cover a wide range of topics. Forthcoming sessions
include portraiture and lighting, photojournalism and mounting and framing prints. See the
Calendar page for more information.
Themes
Throughout the year a number of themes will be in progress. These will run for
several weeks and in many cases will reflect the photographic opportunities
available at different times of year. At the end of each theme members are invited to sumbit pictures for our own club competition.
The following general rules should be observed:
- one photograph only may be entered
- photographs should have no identification on the front
- photos may be mounted or unmounted
- photos may be of any size
- photos should have been taken during the lifetime of the current theme
There is also an Open category and the same rules apply although there is
no trophy for this…. just glamour, prestige and fame!
Members are encouraged to bring along prints to ANY meeting for sharing and
informal comment whether or not these relate to the current theme.
